Most kids have seen caterpillars turn into butterflies, ants tunneling in an ant farm, but how about mealworm larva growing in a barn, forming into white pupae, incubating in a silo, and emerging as shiny shelled beetles?
Beetles don't sound appealing to you? Take it from my 6 year old son... "The beetles make good pets. They become your family."
(Rest easy. Neither your mealworms or adult beetles will be able to escape from the beetle barn or silo.)
Trust us, This is something you don't want your kids to miss! There's no cooler way to monitor insect metamorphosis! Marvel as your baby mealworms form into pupae, incubate, grow and shed exoskeletons, and then become adult darkling beetles! These beetles are super easy to set up and easy to raise. Simply send off the included coupon for live mealworm larvae, open the tri-chambered barn habitat, insert babies and start observing with the included super duper magnifier for insect observation.

Although fascinating in the Beetle Barn, Mealworms and Darkling Beetles are technically stored grain pests. This is why we can't release them when their time in the Beetle Barn is through. Put the remaining eggs, mealworms and beetles to sleep by placing the entire Beetle Barn and silos in the freezer for a few days. Don't worry, putting your beetles to sleep in this way is very humane.

Kept in the Beetle Barn, beetles will live approximately 6-8 months. Your Beetle Barn may be washed with warm water & reused for your next Beetle Barn residents.

Additional live beetle larvae are available at insectlore.com.
